Lake Bled, Slovenia.....a truly beautiful area of the world.
This image was taken on a lovely mid-summer evening after a mixed day of weather. The light beams from the setting sun cascading across the trees on the far bank of the Lake.
I used the Lakes 'taxi' boats for foreground colour and interest and to keep the high contrast sun from the frame. I think the boats make for great foreground interest in a similar way to those on Derwent Water in the Lake District.
I used a B&W Polarising filter to tone down the glare on the wet boats and to add some vibrancy to the scene.
I was keen to align the angled join of the jetty planks towards the Church on the Island in the middle of Lake Bled. This is where my brother got married on the same trip.....a great day. Talking of marriage, the day of the shoot was my Wedding Anniversary! how could I forget!
The midges on this shoot were horrendous, so much so that I put my hood up to keep them away from my head! They were not normally such an issue so it may well have been the damp weather conditions....
