Glengarry Storm

During the long drive home from the Isle of Harris I noticed this view point over my right shoulder in Glengarry. I could see the threatening storm and distant rain following us so I stopped and drove back to a convenient parking spot on the roadside. I created a stitched panoramic image to capture the grand view. By the time I had finished the storm was above me and I had to pack up quick as I didn’t want to get soaked for the drive home!

Eilean Donan Castle

At the meeting point of three sea lochs on the west coast of Scotland, Eilean Donan is situated by the picturesque village of Dornie on the main tourist route to the Isle of Skye. It is one of the most visited and photographed locations in Scotland. I took my version of this location on the way up to the Isle of Harris.

Buachaille Etive Mòr

Buachaille Etive Mòr is a famous mountain at the head of Glen Etive in Argyllshire. The mountain's name is Gaelic, meaning "the Great Herdsman of Etive". It is probably one of the most photographed landmarks in all of Scotland. I took this image in the earlier days of my landscape photography and I almost felt like it was a right of passage to get this image! I understand now that people are actively discouraging people from this location to allow the area to recover as it has been visited by so many people. Its the archetypal shot of this location but at the time I was very happy to have this in my portfolio. My image was given some additional interest by the dramatic cloud formations around the mountain itself. When I dug this image out to add to the website it bought back memories of the place and also of the equipment I was using at the time!
